ander-traxx is a fresh label operating out of glasgow with the intent of releasing righteous underground house, and although mainly a platform for the labels founder alex-ander to showcase his own productions, ander-traxxs remit also includes the presentation of unknown talent for future releases. for this first release, alex steps up to the plate to deliver because of me, followed by 3 remixes from artists born and raised in glasgow. the original kicks things off with its intro of glacial pads and jittery hats, before quickly delving into a seriousely deep groove brimming with melodic layers. although because of me gives a strong nod to the recent developements of producers like omar s and kyle hall, it undoubtedly has the hallmarks of an alex-ander production, his unique arrangements coming to the forefront while still complimenting the crisp percussion that drives the track forward. carlos nilmmns (co founder of the formidable solab production unit) mix is a much more off-kilter and submerged affair. nilmmns plays down the epic quality of the original and adds chugging rhythmics and sweetcured piano work for a lesson in divine repetition. mesumas feedback mix goes in for the dancefloor attack, not surprising for a gentleman whos previous work has seen releases on hardgroove and seventh sign. rolling toms and a booming kick meet aquatic vocal samples and spectral harmonicas, and will still please those partial to deeper sounds. last up to give because of me the rework treatment is meschi (lunar disko, lux, snuff traxx), who mixes his chicago influenced analogue stylings perfectly with the source material. stripped down crescendos build up to a euphoric drop, and meschis elated melodies bring another twist to this excercise in deep funk. because of me is one of those rare e.ps that works just as well in a non-club enviroment as it does on the dancefloor. with this warning shot, alex-ander will surely be capturing the ears of many in 2012 and beyond.

rising parisian producer yakines career pretty much defines the word eclectic — in his teens, he was a bona fide metalhead, playing guitar in a metal band that toured all over europe, before his love of hip hop steered him in the direction of the dancefloor. he really found his home behind the decks, however, and once he discovered the world of electronic music via the patronage of his brother—who introduced him to the sounds of underground deep house and techno — yakine quickly moved into production. he has since released a series of eps on european labels like esperanza and jetaime records. the rise ep is his first release for spectral sound, a four-track slab of understated, atmospheric techno.

shawn osullivan of up and coming new york new wave bands led er est and further reductions, brings us the latest release on wt. the easiest description would be drop bass network meets berghain dub techno meets the new sound of amsterdam with a little bit of acid and industrial sprinkled in, but you should listen to the clips yourself to decide. shawn takes synths, drummachines, a sequencer and some effects and records one take on a stereo track. this leaves room for wild mistakes, personal moments, and blown out sound. its a classic techno sound that sounds like it should have been done before, but hasnt.

i was finishing up a long extended set in paris when the cleckcleckboom crew practically ran into the club to get on the decks. i had hung out with them before but tonight they had all new tracks and an incredible energy. so i stayed past the last ravers just to hear what they would play and that was when i heard “hugz” by french fries and bamabounou. this was a new sound, some nasty nasty shit sitting somewhere between juke and bass music and and i knew we had to get this sound on dirtybird no matter what. needles to say “yo vogue” is hot property and i’m really excited to release it on dirtybird. the half time drop, the chopped and screwed vocal, the stuttering bass kicks, the creepy moog on top - it’s simple and complex at the same time and it wrecks shop whenever it gets played. i did a remix on the b side giving it some db flavor and dirtybird newcomer leroy peppers lays out his own bay area skeeze with hot sauce on top. watch yer bass bins! best, vonstroke.

introducing >the courts 12 inch, the first single from jam citys forthcoming debut album, out later this year on night slugs. a double-a side release that showcases the two extremes of the lps material - the sublime and the industrial. on the a-side is >the courts<, jcs rawest dancefloor-orientated work yet. hyper-tense club music built of skids, dribbles, passes, big jersey kicks, and permeated by an ostentatious slap bass. the result is a pounding, jacking grid of a rhythm track, moments of on-court action reassembled with robotic efficiency. on the flip, jam city links up with oaklands main attrakionz for a very special collaboration called >the nite life<. squadda b and mondrem.a.n. drop mesmerising other-wordly verses over jam’s low-slung beat. the atmosphere is dense, hazy with purple smoke and submerged in the smoggy californian marine layer.

this latest instalment in an impressive run of eps sees chris colburn drop one more classic sounding cuts, wide awake (jacking, detroit-inspired minimalism). having asked to remix >wide awake< after receiving the track directly from chris, rebekah showed just how much she liked the track by delivering two remixes. her fully awake remix is typical of the no-nonsense heads-down style that has earned rebekahs previous work plaudits from adam beyer and chris leibing, while the half asleep mix reworks the original stab pattern to deep hypnotic effect.

magic wire label head lone picks another smasher, aptly titled delirium tremens, from the elusive neon jung with a suitably precise re-edit from nathan fake on the b.side, fresh after his last remix for radiohead. delirium tremens takes on flavours of garage, soul and psychedelia and glues it all together with an armour plated, mutant electro backbone designed to make the dancefloor lose it for 4 minutes but still keeps the soul firmly intact. its another demonstration of neon jungs ability to take influences from many genres and join the dots to create something fresh, but with all the right reference points to make this accessible to everyone from your backpacking beat head to the hardcore club frequenters. the bass in the first drop of this track is just berserk – theres no other word for it. the b side sees nathan fake up the tempo but draw it out, making this perfect for the more patient crowd. it has nathans signature beat all over it – it rotates, swings and soars gloriously until it finally ends in a warm afterglow, complementing the original perfectly in its grower not a shower approach.

fukkk offfs bastian heerhorst and dirty disco youths phil speiser team up to drop a bomb on coco machete records and the world at large. with two equally devistating tracks the nuclear war disaster ep delivers on its promise of total devistation. both tracks attack, drive, squelch and pound in ways only these two artists can only to be released by an overture worthy enough to ride with the valkyries. i think its time to head to the shelter!

ltd coloured edition!! with catalog number 006 another techno legend joins the killekill family. neil landstrumm is with no doubt one of the big heroes of techno. with several albums and uncount-able singles released on renowned labels like tresor, peacefrog and planet &#956,,,, he has definitely written techno history. and this does not even count in his own label scandinavia, which released music of high prolific techno artists such as cristian vogel, tobias schmidt, adam x and many more. although having produced his first records in the early nineties neil landstrumm is in no way an old school producer! he has produced a few top notch dubstep records in the last years (released on planet &#956,,,) and is just now being one of the producers pushing the boundaries of the post dubstep uk bass sound and is also being featured on the nonplus label being run by no one else but boddika. for killekill neil landstrumm has delivered a handful of tracks which combine his typical dirty techno sound with the aesthetics of uk bass. extremely funky and with a big drop of acid they cross over electro, techno and even hip hop and therewith fit perfectly to the sound of our label. the co-production of weirdo mastermind si begg on touch it just adds the icing on the cake.
